One
of my duties as a leader is to attract new opportunities for Ghana and
Ghanaians through international cooperation. This is one of the reasons
why I paid a fruitful visit to Iran, at the invitation of Iran’s
President, Dr. Hassan Rouhani.
I am proud to be the first African leader to visit Iran after the nuclear agreement, and also the first Ghanaian leader to come here after the Islamic Revolution. Iran has always been a close friend and supporter of the freedom movement in Africa, and supported the fight against colonialism and apartheid.

As members of the Non-Aligned Movement, Ghana and Iran have a
longstanding relationship. There are many grounds for cooperation
between our countries, including oil and gas, agriculture, power
generation, production of cement, home appliances and engineering
products. We think Iran enjoys a good advantage in these fields and can
become a suitable partner for Ghana.
